Colorful Inspiration by Samantha!

Samantha C is here with a special Saturday post this week to inspire your weekend crafting!

Hey Everyone, Samantha here with a piñata card that is inspired by the current Lawn Fawnatics Custom Sentiments Challenge!

The piñata, from the Year Seven stamp set, is so much fun to color. I created a custom ‘hola!’ sentiment using Quinn’s ABCs. I colored and hand cut my letters and layered them on top of pattern paper from the Let’s Polka in the Meadow collection. Blue pom-pom trim and pink rhinestones were added as fun embellishments!

There is still time to enter the Lawn Fawnatics Custom Sentiments Challenge, so please check out the design team inspiration and submit your project! Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful day!

A Finding Nemo-Inspired Card by Jessica

We’re heading into the last weekend for our Custom Sentiments challenge and you have all been impressing us and making us chuckle with your witty greetings! This challenge will be open until Sunday night August 20 at 11:59 PM ET.

Good morning! Jess here with one more card for our Custom Sentiments challenge! I love a good pun and couldn’t resist adding a little Finding Nemo twist to the adorable Lawn Fawn shark! I love the scene in the movie where Nemo joins the Tank Gang and they give him the nickname ‘Sharkbait Hoo Ha Ha’ and I thought it would be fun to create a punny anniversary card for my husband who also loves Finding Nemo.

I started by smooshing faded jeans, broken china, and salty ocean distress oxides onto a craft mat and then spritzed them with water. Then I pressed a piece of dark navy cardstock into the ink and held it in place for a few seconds. I blasted it with a heat gun and then repeated the process a few times until I was happy with the ink coverage across the panel. I like how part of it is a little smeary and wavy and part of it has lots of definition and looks like bubbles! After it dried I flicked it with white acrylic paint and shimmer spray to create more bubbles and then set it aside to finish drying.

Next I stamped the shark from Duh Nuh twice onto white cardstock with Copic-friendly ink. I also stamped the top hat from Bicycle Built for You and bow from Snow Cool. I colored them with Copic markers, die-cut the sharks with the coordinating dies, and fussy cut the accessories. Then I stamped the sentiment using Milo’s ABCs onto the background with VersaMark and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I adhered the sharks with ATG adhesive and then added the accessories with foam mounting tape. I also die-cut a few hearts with Raspberry cardstock and adhered them to the background. To finish the card I added a little spectrum noir clear sparkle to the hearts and sharks!

I really love how it turned out and I can’t help but imagine the character’s voice from the movie yelling “Shark Date Hoo Ha Ha” whenever I look at it! If you’ve never seen the movie I cannot recommend it enough…seriously, it’s one of my favorites! 😉

And when you’re done watching the movie make sure to get your cards in for our challenge! You’ve got until Sunday to get crafty with those custom sentiments! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic day!
