Christy’s Magic Iris Birthday Card Featuring Really High Five!

Hi friends, it’s Christy here with another card for our Birthday Challenge! I hope you’re all doing well. Today I’m bringing you my first Magic Iris card! I featured the new Really High Five along with Butterfly Kisses. These sets work so well together! I stamped all the images I wanted to use with Jet Black Ink and colored them with Copic markers, then trimmed them out with the matching dies.

Next I created the Magic Iris mechanism, by following the excellent instructions in Kelly Marie’s Intro to Magic Iris video on the Lawn Fawn YouTube channel. I’ll make a confession — interactive cards intimidate me. But this one really is as easy to put together as it looks. The one you’ll see in my video tutorial is my very first attempt, and it works perfectly!

Once I had the mechanism, I die cut the Magic Iris Add-on out of some Spiffy Speckles patterned paper. I added the grass using the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders and stamped part of the sentiment at the bottom. I stamped the rest of the sentiment in the center part of the Magic Iris Add-on die-cut, and then adhered my images to the scene.

I created a card base out of Mermaid cardstock and covered it with a sheet of Hello Sunshine Remix patterned paper, Then I attached the magic iris to the back of the focal panel with tape runner adhesive. With the magic iris in the open position, I fit the center circle and attached it to the card base. Then I popped the focal panel up with a thin strip of foam tape at the top and bottom.

And that’s it! As I mentioned, I’ll have a video tutorial on how this card came together over on my channel, Christy Gets Crafty. And if you’d like to create something for our Birthday Challenge, you still have time to play along! Click HERE for the challenge post!

Make a Wish by Samantha!

Samantha has some really adorable inspiration today for the Birthday Challenge!

Samantha started with an adorable pup from Happy Howloween, balloons from Really High Five and another balloon and a party hat from Party Animal which she colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers! For the background she blended Distress Ink in Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn on a masked panel on the card front. She white embossed the greeting from Party Animal then added the fussy cut images with foam tape!

Thanks for inspiring us today Samantha, with this fantastic card!

The Birthday Challenge will be open until Sunday, April 5 at 11:59PM ET. We hope you will join us!

A Really High Five Birthday Card with Jessica!

Good morning! Jess here with a card for our current Birthday challenge!

To start, I placed the Cloudy Stencil over a panel of Strathmore Bristol cardstock cut to 8.25” by 4” and from the top blended Chipped Sapphire, Blueprint Sketch, Salty Ocean, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. Once I was done blending I let the ink dry completely and then trimmed the panel down to 8” by 3.75.” I like to start with slightly larger panels so that I can trim off any messy edges where I started blending! Then I die-cut two clouds from the Puffy Cloud Borders die set with white cardstock and adhered them to the bottom of my panel. I added a little crystal glaze to the top of each cloud and then sprinkled the glaze with Chunky and Prisma glitter for a little extra sparkle!

Next I stamped the sentiment and images from Really High Five with Versafine and heat-embossed them with clear embossing powder. I colored them with Copic markers and then die-cut them with the coordinating dies. I drew strings for my balloons onto my panel and then adhered them with a mix of regular adhesive and foam mounting tape for a little change in dimension. I also adhered my cute fox with foam mounting tape! Finally I added some accents with a white gel pen and coated my balloons using the Glitter Pen and Crystal Glaze!

And that’s it! You have two more weeks to get crafty and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create for the Birthday challenge!
