Design Team Inspiration

I love that Mimi took the adventurous It’s a Bird mice out into a Desert Canyon Backdrop for some stargazing! She paired these cute little critters with a telescope from Super Star and camping gear from Car Critters Road Trip Add-On.

This family of squirrels is enjoying an afternoon of leisurely reading! Christy combined Little Woodland Library with Heart Tree to create a charming scene! To keep it sweet and simple she stenciled the background with Cloudy Stencil and Grassy Hillside Stencils.

Franci‘s clean and simple window card features our Sew Very Mice critters! She used Outside In Stitched Heart Stackables for the window and a Scalloped Rectangle in Bitsy Blooms paper to create a frame. Then she added a sweet sentiment stamped in Sage Leaf ink.

We all know cats love to play with yarn, so it’s not a leap to picture them knitting! Samantha created a cozy scene with Window Scene: Winter and Den Sweet Den. She included the cats from Purrfectly Wicked along with the shelf. I love how she used Knit Picky paper in the background, it’s a perfect choice!

Joyce chose Build-A-Bunny as her critter who loves painting! She dressed her up in overalls from Build-A-Bunny Accessories. Then she gathered all the things for her hobby from Canvas and Easel and Art Supplies! Her sentiment comes from Henry’s Build-A-Sentiment: Bunny Puns.

This adorable You’re a Keeper bear is busy harvesting honey! Mayra shows us a fun bee-keeping hobby with Hive Five, Spring Basket and Heart Tree! She added a greeting from Magic Messages.

Samantha gathered a bunch of literature lovers from Little Woodland Library on her colorful card! She inked up 3 rectangle panels in rainbow colors, then using Lots of Stars Background Stencils she added stars with white stencil paste. I love how she colored the images to coordinate with the background colors!

Karin shows our cute Sew Very Mice critters on a thoughtful birthday gift! She used Fancy Box to create a little sewing kit for a friend!

The box is just big enough to fill with thread, tiny scissors, measuring tape, needles and pins!

Such a clever idea and a great way to show off these critters and their favorite hobby!

We will have more Design Team inspiration for the Critters & Hobbies challenge over the next 2 weeksBe sure to come back tomorrow when we’ll announce our Featured Fawnatics and random winner for Challenge 193 – Inspired by a Book, Movie or Song!

Mimi used the Inspiration Colors to create a frosty arctic scene!

For the background, Mimi created a glacier by combining Desert Canyon Backdrop and Stitched Mountain Borders. She used the teal colors with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink to create the icy environment. Mimi brought in the pink shades with Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink for the sky.

Beary Happy Holidays and Penguin Party provide the critters for this cute scene, including the pink salmon! Mimi used rocks from Wild Wolves and Critters in the Desert for more icy detail.

Thank you so much for sharing this clever inspiration, Mimi!

Hey friends, it’s Christy here with another card for our Christmas in July Challenge! For this one I wanted to create a gift exchange between a mermaid and her friend the crab.

I combined images from Mermaid for You, Life is Good, and Christmas Fishes, stamped the images in Jet Black Ink, and colored them with my Copic markers. Then I trimmed them out with their matching dies.

Then I cut out a panel of Bristol Cardstock with the Desert Canyon Backdrop and blended on Distress Oxide Inks, using Antique Linen and Gathered Twigs for the sand, and Hickory Smoke and Black Soot for the rocks. Then I did a separate panel for the sea using Cracked Pistachio, Lucky Clover, and Black Soot. I added some splatter to the sand to give it texture. Then I white heat embossed a sentiment at the top of the sea panel and adhered these two pieces together with foam tape, then glued them to a Cilantro card base.

I adhered my images with a combination of foam tape and liquid glue and finished off the card with a bit of sparkle using Stardust Stickles. I also did some stamping on the inside in Noble Fir Ink.

If you’d like to watch the entire process of the creation of this card, you can check out the video tutorial on my YouTube channel, Christy Gets Crafty! We hope that our Christmas in July Challenge is keeping you cool this Summer! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thank you for inspiring us, Christy!
