Hey friends, Christy here with a new card for our Fun Folds Challenge! This one looks like a camera, and when you lift up the lens cap, you get a cute photo inside. Fun, right?
To make the camera shape, I started out with a piece of Black Licorice cardstock that measured 5 1/2” wide by 8 1/2” tall, then scored and folded it at the 4 1/4” mark to make an A2 standard-size landscape style card. (This way the finished card will still fit in a regular A2 envelope.) Then I took a ruler and came down about a 1/2” from the fold and drew a line from each edge toward the middle about a third of the way across, then slanted the line up to the top to form the camera shape. I trimmed off the two sides above the pencil line with a pair of scissors, leaving the center part of the fold that holds the card together. If this sounds confusing, don’t worry! There’s a video tutorial at my channel!
To break up all the black, I trimmed down a piece of light gray cardstock to slightly shorter but the same width as the camera, adhering it with a band of black at the top and bottom. Then I ran a strip of Really Rainbow paper vertically down the center for a pop of color. With the wide range of camera styles and colors, you could really do just about anything here. As long as you have a basic camera shape and a lens in the center, you can’t go wrong.
Speaking of the lens, I die cut the “cap” out of more Black Licorice cardstock with the new Lift the Flap Circles Lawn Cuts, then cut an aqua circle the same size for the inside. I added Grassy Border along the bottom and a mama and baby elephant and butterfly from Wild for You, which I colored with Copic markers. I trimmed off anything that hung off the sides of the aqua circle and adhered the Lift the Flap Circle over the top. To dress up the lens cap I added a red heart die cut from Stitched Party Banners.
For the last little details, I added a button and flash by getting creative with the matching dies to different stamp sets. The black button was from a candy stick from Sweet Christmas and the flash was the letter from Gleeful Gardens. I also added a red enamel dot for the “on” or “record” light. Again, with so many different styles of cameras, you can go through your stash and use what you can find if you don’t have the same dies.
To finish things off, I stamped the word “click” from Elphie Selfie three times in Manatee ink and added an insert on the inside with some more fun stamping and my sentiment. Would you like to see how this whole card came together? You can check out the video tutorial on my YouTube channel, Christy Gets Crafty.
I hope you’ve been enjoying this Fun Folds Challenge as much as we have! This challenge will be open for another week! We can’t wait to see what you will create! Thanks so much for stopping by!
